It’s official! Britt + Whit is now 4 years old. It’s crazy how fast time flies! It has been such an incredible journey and we can’t thank you all enough for your support and for following along with our blogging adventures. So now, 4 years in, we wanted to take a look back and share what we have learned about this whole blogging thing!
Content is Key
Keep the content coming so that your readers have a reason to come back! Plan ahead and even create an editorial calendar so that you can make sure to capitalize on seasonal trends and build your ranking in SEO.
Find A Balance
Balancing work and our personal lives is tough! On top of running Britt+Whit, we work full time in media, are best friends, and (attempt) to have a personal life. While we strive to keep different aspects of our life separate, sometimes that can get tricky. Over the years though we’ve learned to carve out time for our friendship because at the end of the day, a successful blog means nothing if you don’t have people around you to share it with!
Brush It Off
Not everyone you meet will want to be your best friend or will even remember who you are. That is OK! We have had people blow us off, gotten nasty comments, and even been yelled at on twitter. It’s not always easy but you have to take all of that with a grain of salt and keep moving forward.
It’s Never a Done Deal
It’s so exciting when brands and publications reach out to collaborate, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out or the deal falls through. While it can be easy to get discouraged and second guess yourself, instead use these interactions with brands to help refine how you pitch yourself and identify what opportunities are really best for you.
In The End…
It’s totally worth it! Founding Britt+Whit has been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, experiences of our lives. The unique opportunities we have had, (attending NYFW, working with QVC, covering Outside Lands for ASOS) and the amazing people we have met through blogging (well hello Mr. Joe Zee!), absolutely override those days of exhaustion, doubt, and frustration. It’s been such an amazing journey so far and we can’t wait to see where the next 4 years take us!
