Fabletics Review: Is It Worth it?

Updated on

If you go to the gym regularly, you’re probably always looking for places to stock up on leggings and sports bras. A Fabletics VIP membership gives you access to stylish, reliable workout clothes at a reasonable price. You can find all the activewear you need on Fabletics, from sneakers to performance jackets. Their main focus is leggings and sports bras, though.

Each month, Fabletics allows you to get one workout outfit. This month, I chose moonrock-print leggings and a zebra-print sports bra. I’m pretty excited about getting a whole new workout outfit! Fabletics lets you choose the style and color of your order, so it’s perfect for anyone who needs more activewear.

How Does Fabletics VIP Work?

Fabletics has a VIP membership program that costs $59.99 a month. Each month you pay the membership fee, you’ll receive discounts up to 50% off and a member credit you can exchange for items in the store.

The program is flexible, meaning, as a Fabletics VIP member, you can skip the fee for as many months as you want and still get some of the perks, like these:

  • Free exchanges and returns within 90 days
  • Free shipping on orders over $50

To get the following perks, you need to be a paying member:

  • Exclusive products
  • Member credits you can exchange for any item or outfit bundle

To make the most of your credits, remember that they cost $60 each. Outfit bundles give you the most bang for your buck. Credits expire 12 months after you get them.

Placing Your First Order

Placing the first order is where a lot of customers get burned. When you make your first purchase, you’ll probably be lured in by special VIP discounts, like 2 leggings for $24 or 70% off.

Once you sign up to be a VIP, you agree to let Fabletics charge you $59.99 on the 6th of every month as a membership fee. If you want the one-time discount, skip or cancel your membership before the 6th rolls around! You’ll get discounts on clothes even if you skip the membership fee. You won’t get the member credit.

I’ve seen reviews from annoyed customers who

What We Like About Fabletics

Great Style

One of the first things I noticed is that Fabletics has lots of fun prints and colors. There’s really something for everyone. There are neutral colors, bold prints, and neon solids. The website also has loungewear and shapewear. You can even use your membership perks in the men’s section of the website.

More Sustainable Packaging

I always keep an eye out for sustainable and less wasteful packaging. Fabletics sends clothes in a simple poly mailer and the clothes inside come in biodegradable, recycled plastic bags. These bags are designed to break down within 18 months.

Affordable Clothing Bundles

For me, one of the biggest draws is Fabletics clothing bundles. Bundles include at least 2 pieces. Fabletics offers workout gear bundles that you can purchase using one “credit.” You get a new credit every month you subscribe, which works out to $60 an outfit. If you find a bundle you like, you can save a lot of money. Fabletics offers loungewear bundles, too.

Skip Months

If you don’t want to buy a new workout outfit every month, you can easily skip the month by signing in and adjusting your account settings. There’s no need to call or email anyone. I recommend setting an alarm or other reminder between the 1st and 5th of each month before the charge, so you can decide whether you want to participate that month.

What We Don’t Like About Fabletics

Automatic Signups

Most of the complaints online about Fabletics are from people who sign up by accident or without realizing it. The first time you buy from Fabletics, you’ll probably choose to use their VIP discount. When you choose that discount, you sign up for their monthly membership. You’ll be charged $59.99 on the 6th of each month unless you opt-out.

Inflated Prices?

I think the “non-member” prices are somewhat inflated to make you feel like you’re getting a better deal than you are. I think the prices are decent, but not quite as amazing as the company wants you to believe when they mark them as 70% off.

Define PowerHold Ultra HW 7/8 Legging in Orchid Moonrock

I love this print! It’s cute and unique without being over the top. Overall I liked the print and cut of these leggings. The very wide waistband is comfortable and looks nice.

On the other hand, I wasn’t as impressed with the fabric quality. The fabric is a little thinner than I prefer– I prefer a heavier material that offers more compression. I did like that I was able to wear these as part of a normal outfit because of how comfortable they are, though.

I’m about 5’5”, so I like the 7/8 length. Most leggings are long on me and bunch up around the ankles. These didn’t do that and instead hit right at the ankle. I recommend these to anyone on the shorter side!

When I chose these, I didn’t notice the 7/8 length doesn’t have side pockets. I wish it did, but it’s really on me for not noticing that this style doesn’t have them. There’s a waistband pocket, but no side pockets for storing your phone, keys or other essentials. Kind of a bummer, but I’ll still wear these!

No-Bounce Sports Bra in Pewter Marbled Zebra

This is a high-support sports bra ideal for high-impact exercises. The fabric provides ultraviolet protection and moisture-wicking properties for comfort during outdoor exercise and intense workouts. I like the high neck for lots of coverage and comfort. It fits snugly– I found the fit to be true to standard sizing.

I admit I was a little wary of the complicated-looking strappy back. I was concerned that it would make the bra less comfortable and supportive than it claims to be. I usually wear n

However, I found it to be comfortable and supportive during jogs and other cardio exercises.

Sometimes I opt for sports bras that don’t have as much compression, but this one is great for running.

Final Thoughts

I liked both of the items I got from this subscription! Finding activewear that suits your style and does its job can be tough. I tested both at the gym, and both fit into my routine well.

If you’re curious about Fabletics, I recommend trying it. My main advice is to set an alarm before the billing date (the 6th of each month), so you don’t forget that they’re about to charge you $60. Since it’s a flexible membership, there’s no penalty for skipping a month if your budget is tight or you don’t want any new clothes.

I recommend trying Fabletics if you need to build up your workout wardrobe. It’s a great place to start for anyone upping their fitness game for the new year!
