Our Actual Wantable Review | August 2021

Updated on

After watching many of my favorite influencers (@sharonsaysso is by far the most fun to watch) do subscription box try-ons, I decided to give it a go. Not being self-critical, but my style is lacking in a big way. It could be from being a mom of two young kids, or the fact that I am not sure how to dress my mom bod, but it is lacking. I like simple clothes and see women walking around in jeans and t-shirts looking very put together, a far cry from my haphazard garbage woman style I tend to rock on a daily basis. Style boxes seem like a great way for someone who doesn’t know what to wear or buy to upgrade their wardrobe.

Wantable is a style box put together by stylists after you take a personalized quiz on the type of clothes you wear, your body type, color preferences, and budget. There are different “edits” to choose from when picking out what kind of box suits your needs. Style Edit puts together clothes and accessories for a fashionable wardrobe. Active Edit for various levels of walking Costco, hiking steep trails, or the yoga mat. Sleep and Body Edit to adorn you with great fitting bras and underwear along with luxury loungewear. They also have a Men’s Active Edit for men’s workout clothing and casual clothing.

How It Works

Once you decide on what kind of box fits your needs, you take the quiz and can view some of their new arrivals and request something if you want it sent to you. After you order you should receive your box in between 1-2 weeks. In your box you will recieve 7 items of clothing and accessories. You get to try on the items, see what ones work for you and send back the ones that dont. You also tell them why items didn’t work for you, that way on your next box it is even more tailored to you. You get shipping labels for your returns and you can even arrange for pick up if you need it.

Pricing

Up front there is a fee of $20 for the stylist but will be deducted from your total price from the items you decide to keep and buy. You tell them a price range for the items you get sent so it can fit your budget. If you love and want to buy 5 items from your box you get 20% off of your total.

My Experience

I was a little skeptical because I have seen some very funny try-ons that just missed the target from other style boxes, so to say I was surprised with how great my box was would be an understatement. Most of the items I would have at least looked at in a store and am happy I got to try a couple of things I wouldn’t have even considered.

Everything sent to me by Wantable

Pacific Coast Slub Tee in White from 78 and Sunny

This white tee was almost spot on. Like I mentioned I have a “simple” style and I try to buy items that will stay in style for a while so the little straps across the chest made this shirt just a little too trendy for me.

Thompson Destructed Tomboy in Medium Wash from Vigoss

These Vigoss jeans were spot on and actually the only item I kept. Once this Texas heat lessens I know I am going to live in these boyfriend cut denim. Jeans are the worst thing to shop for, and usually I just order things and pray they work out. I have a graveyard of terrible fitting jeans in my closet because most of the time it does not work out. I am stoked they sent these to me and that I look so great in them.

“Sun Series” Graphic Tee from 78 and Sunny

Graphic tees are hit and miss for me. I love them but they can also be kitschy. This one was a little on the spendy side for a graphic tee in my opinion, but it was good quality and I did like the length of the crop.

Glass Tile Earrings from Lou & Co

My only accessories were these earrings. They were beautifully made and of very good quality. I have a toddler that makes hoops or large earrings painful to wear, but if that was not the case I would have kept these no question.

Chloe Pull On Short in Dusty Coral from Liverpool

I wanted to love these shorts so much. They were stretchy so there was no chance of muffin top, the color was great and not something I normally would have even thought to try. They pancaked my derrière through so they had to be sent back.

The Reverie Dress in Black from Reverie

My husband laughed when I held up this dress, and I thought “wow, they really get my crunchy side well”. I wasn’t expecting to love this on, and my husband even said he liked it much more than he thought he would. I sent this back but wished I had kept it.

Printed Cami in Red/Navy from Skies Are Blue

This was the only thing I wasn’t a fan of right off of the bat. The material and the weight made it not ideal in the summer heat and the fit was just not flattering at all. I love all of the color but it was too busy for what I normally like.

Final Thoughts

Overall I was very impressed with what I got and am excited to get another one. It feels like they captured my simple style and put together some great pieces so I feel less like a trash lady. This is great for anyone who hates shopping, lacks the time and energy to go shopping, or just struggles with finding things other than sweats to wear. I definitely recommend trying out Wantable.
